Wateen Telecom, recently ranked as Pakistan’s No. 1 wireless broadband provider by the PTA, was recently awarded the Pakistan Advertisers Society award for best advertisement in the ‘Computer and Internet Category’.
The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Expo Centre in Karachi on Friday, and attended by representatives of the country’s leading national and multinational brands.
Wateen beat Wi-Tribe and Qubee who were also nominated in this category. The judges for the event included stalwarts from media, advertising agencies, and marketing representatives from leading organizations and faculty members from the top universities in the country.
The judges based their score on the following basis;
- Strategic Challenge + Objectives: 30%
- The Big Idea: 30%
- Bringing the Idea to Life: 30%
- Results: 10%
The objective of the awards is to raise the standard of advertising in Pakistan by honouring and acknowledging ideas, strategy and creativity that lead to strong business results. Over the past year, Wateen has taken several steps to help improve service levels and optimize the network’s efficiency, including the relocation of over 200 sites. The brand had a negative perception in the market, was only known as a WiMAX operator and its customer communication was entirely functional with the tagline ‘We Connect’ and the new campaign was targeted at addressing these issues.
Commenting on the award, Wateen’s CEO Naeem Zamindar said, “We had the challenge of re-launching Wateen Telecom as Pakistan’s leading converged communications service provider in a short period of time. This was not an easy task and it is representative of Wateen’s philosophy that no matter what the odds are, with the right platform you can achieve anything you want to – Jo Chaho.”
